Employee Insight : Meredith Lindsey

Our Employee Spotlight gives the microphone to an A-LINE Employee so that all our clients can learn about the members of the team that make A-LINE so great. This month, we talk to Meredith Lindsey (a new last name we’re still getting used to!), one of A-LINE’s project managers, to hear her take on launching websites, working with clients, and promoting her hometown.

  1. What trends do you see in the industry that clients need to know about?
Having a clean and easily navigable website is very important, but having relevant, updated content is just as important. Great content is a trend that is not going away. Great content can boost search engine optimization rankings and increase leads on your website.
  2. If there was something you'd like to see change in the web/digital industry, what would it be?
To many people, web design and programming is like another language. It can be extremely difficult sometimes for people without a background in the industry to understand what goes into a website. So the concept of redesigning a website or creating a new website can be very daunting. I would like to break down that barrier and make the process not seem so tedious. The process can be fun and interesting, and I would love to be able to pass this concept onto my clients.
  3. What’s the most important thing clients should know about the website development process?
It is important to know that after a website launches, it will not show up as No. 1 in search engine ranking results right away. It can take weeks—sometimes even months—for Google to start indexing a new website. That’s why it is so important to constantly put out good content. Good content will help with search engine rankings. No company can ever promise that you will be the first listing of a search results page, but they can help you rank higher with a well designed, well programmed website and relevant content.
  4. If you were to equip a client with only one marketing tool, what would it be?
Having a well thought-through content campaign goes a long way, but also having a marketing review put in place for every quarter is essential. It’s important to have campaigns in place, but it is just as important to check your progress and have goals to compare.
  5. What social media or Google platform would you recommend to a client?
You have to work with Google My business. A lot of my clients will launch sites but not realize that they have either an incomplete profile, duplicate profile, or have not claimed a profile at all. It’s important to claim your Google My Business profile, since it will help in search engine results. You also want to make sure this is not a source of incorrect information that could confuse potential customers. See A-LINE’S guide to Google My Business for a quick overview of this platform.
  6. What are the ingredients of a successful client relationship?
My colleagues have already mentioned open communication and trust, which I too believe to be some of the most important ingredients of a successful client relationship. I also strongly believe in following through with what you promise and doing it in a timely manner. Your word means nothing if you don’t follow through with your actions.
  7. What is your favorite part of the job?
My favorite part of being a project manager for A-LINE is being able to work with clients in so many different industries. I am constantly learning new things and working with new personalities and dynamics. It keeps me on my toes and makes me excited to come into work every day.
  8. What’s next?
Being born and raised in Spartanburg, I am very excited to continue working with businesses in Spartanburg to help grow our community. I am very proud of what I do and where I work. I am also excited to see A-LINE expand across the Upstate and continue to work with clients to improve their websites and marketing presence.
