Carefully created content can go a long way in making a great user experience and will help you optimize your website for keywords. There is always more to learn about new and creative ways to optimize content. ALINE can help with research, recommendations, and implementation, if needed.
With quality content, local organizations can use their community insights and networks to capture web traffic and use inbound marketing to increase website visitors, foot traffic and, ultimately, sales.
- Meta Titles should be no more than 59 characters, should be unique to each page, and should contain keywords where possible.
- Meta Descriptions can be any length and do not require keywords. We recommend descriptions between 50 – 160 characters, but Google generally truncates snippets to 160 or less characters. Meta Descriptions should be unique to each page. Remember, your primary goal should be to provide value and drive clicks.
- Each image uploaded to the website should be assigned an Image Alt tag, again using keywords if/when possible.
- Every page should have one (and only one) H1 tagged title. This title should contain keywords, if it makes sense for the user experience.
- Heading tags should go in order on a page, for example, H1, H2, H3.
- When trying to optimize a page for a keyword, we recommend hyperlinking a keyword at least once, but no more than twice, for each page that makes sense for the user experience.
